24° Heating too

The same unit,
run backwards.

Every system we fit is an inverter heat pump. In winter the cycle reverses: it collects heat from the outside air, even on a frosty morning, and moves it indoors. For each unit of electricity it typically delivers around three units of heat, which an electric heater cannot do.

Winter

Warm in minutes, not an hour

A heat pump blows warm air straight away, so a room is comfortable in minutes rather than waiting for radiators to heat up. The louvres angle down in heating mode, because warm air rises and the unit is high on the wall.

The room the boiler never reaches

A garden office has no radiators and a fan heater costs a fortune. A small wall split heats it for roughly a third of the electricity of the fan heater, and cools it in July. It is the single most useful thing you can add to a garden room.

Top-up heat where the radiator struggles

Loft rooms and extensions on the end of a long heating run are often the last to warm up. The unit gives you instant heat in that one room without turning the whole house up.

Things people ask about heating toos.

Does it work when it is freezing outside?+

Yes. Modern inverter units keep heating well below zero; the output drops a little on the coldest mornings and the outdoor unit pauses now and then to defrost, which is normal.

Is it cheaper than my gas boiler?+

Per unit of heat it is usually close, and it depends on your gas and electricity prices and the room. Where it clearly wins is against electric heaters, fan heaters and oil-filled radiators: around a third of the running cost for the same warmth. Use the running-cost page for a rough figure.

Can it replace central heating?+

For a single room, a garden office or a flat, yes. For a whole house we would talk about an air-to-water heat pump feeding the radiators, which is a different job and not what this page is about.
