A multi-split runs two to five indoor units from a single outdoor unit. Each room has its own control and its own temperature, and the outside of the house keeps one tidy box instead of a row of them. The usual choice for two or three bedrooms, or a bedroom and the office.

Each room on its own
Every indoor unit is independent: the bedroom can be at 19° while the office sits at 22°, or off. The indoor units can be a mix of wall-mounted and ceiling cassette on the same outdoor unit.
One outdoor unit, several pipe sets
Each indoor unit has its own pair of pipes back to the outdoor unit, so the pipe runs need planning. On a terrace they usually drop down the rear wall together in one trunking; on a detached house we can often hide them in the eaves.
Insulated, clipped, covered
All refrigerant pipes are insulated copper, clipped into trunking with the drain and the cable. We keep runs short where we can, because long runs cost more and lose a little performance.

Is a multi-split cheaper than two single splits?+
Usually a little, and it is tidier outside, but not always: if the rooms are far apart, two singles with short pipe runs can be the better job. The survey works out which, and quotes the better one.
Can all the rooms run at once?+
Yes, within the capacity of the outdoor unit, which we size for the rooms you have. On the very hottest afternoons with every room on full, the system shares capacity; in practice bedrooms are used at night and offices in the day, so it rarely matters.
Can I add a room later?+
If we fit an outdoor unit with spare capacity, yes. Tell us at the survey which rooms might follow and we will size for them.
